Redevelopment Project Vision
Paradise Valley Mall has led the way for an urban village/regional shopping center concept to serve as a lifestyle district in Phoenix by offering the residents of Carefree, Paradise Valley and North Phoenix a centralized “marketplace” since 1978. Inspiration to solidify a unified marketplace that continues to distinguish the Paradise Valley core is a coveted one-stop-shop environment catering to the daily needs of the community by offering everything from grocery and dry cleaners to retail fashion and restaurants. This marketplace strategy is designed to serve the gamut of shopper’s needs in a concentrated area with convenience, aesthetics, design and retail as focus.
Phase I of the redevelopment will focus on the exterior of the regional shopping center blending a portion of the existing trees and plants with new indigenous plant materials such as eco-friendly palm trees and drought-resistant palo verde into a beautifully designed landscape package. Just as important, is an effort to brand the Paradise Valley Mall shopping district by incorporating unified marketplace signage and a new logo to be incorporated throughout the shopping district giving the area a symbiotic, updated look and new modern color palette.
Village Plaza will be the first Urban Village to undergo physical renovation as part of Phase I of the redevelopment. Along with the landscaping and signage, the center’s new look will also include a dynamic stone façade throughout the center to represent the gorgeous aesthetics of the Paradise Valley area.
Phase II will involve the demolition of the vacant department store to make way for the unique and popular retailer Costco Wholesale. Slated to open in spring 2009, the addition of Costco will provide the shopper with a wholesale shopping experience not only in store but at their satellite gas station as well.
